"It has been said that an ending is merely a beginning in disguise. And so it was that when the Great War engulfed the world, bringing civilization as we know it to an end, it ushered in the dawn of a new era. An era in which science and technology were shunned - for they had proven to be mankind's downfall - and the ancient arts of sorcery and magic were revived."
You start the game by poping out of a machine that has kept you the same age as you were when you went into it. Wow! The first time I played Crystalis I was stunned at how great the play control is. As a young magician, you gain levels and gather many weapons and armor, including Wind and Fire swords & Orbs.
The play control is awesome! Your character moves in eight directions and gets items that let him jump, teleport and even a gas mask. The landscape changes from plains to towns, a forest and an icy mountain.
I don't have any serious problems with Crystalis. While you can move in eight directions, you can't attack diagonally. You are limited to around 20 levels, although that's enough to beat the game. Screen flicker can be a problem sometimes.
Overall Crystalis is great for anyone who likes adventures, action or RPG's. I would give it 9/10.
