Nearly 15 years old and still running strong. The NES Scene maybe hecktick, with NES Nation coming bakc, and shortly after leaving; |tsr's NES Pit down, but new websites keep coming up and more people join. Why do people still care about NES? Wouldn't we get tired of games after 15 years? The answer for us 'NES Sceners' (that sounds a little wierd) is NO! Why? Their are tons of reasons why NES'll live on. First off, their's tons of games. Over 700 in America. Even more in Japan, and many many games from around the world that never came stateside (Uforia comes to mind). That is not to mention the prototype games, waiting to be found. Then we've got a dogpile of accesorys, most of which are available only for the NES (U-Force, ROB, Power Pad) It's just so easy, and fun finding NES stuff (most of the stuff is easy to find with a little looking around). To this day I don't know of anyone that has all the games. One big thing about all NES games (even if they suck) is they have great gameplay, the best for any system. Sure eye-popping graphics aren't there, but it really doesn't matter in the long run. Take the N64, for example. It's got neato graphics, but the gameplay flat-out stinks. Already it's graphics are outdated by Dreamcast. I'd like to see who gives a rip about 64 in 10 years, with it's dinasuar graphics AND crappy gameplay. That's why NES won't fade away, it has already stood the test of time. Gameplay is forever.
