Pokémon for N64
Pokémon Snap
Release date Japan:Out Now America:Out Now UK:Unknown
Pokémon Snap follows the adventures of Snap a young Photographer who LOVES to take pictures of Pokémon. Prof. Oak has hired you to take pictures on Pokémon Island. The main game involves taking pictures (DUH) of Pokémon. You travel at a fast speed in your hover-buggy-thingy. The courses contain different elements and different pokémon can be found in each course. E.G you can find char/mander/meleon/izard in the volcanoe area. You are awarded points for getting good close up shots of the Pokémon. Oak will judge you at the end of the round and if you have not got enough decent snaps he won't let you procede. During the game you will pick up items such as sleeping balls which will help you get better snaps of the pokémon. Pokémon can react differently every time. E.G at one point your cart has stopped and you see one Charmander throw a few apples and more leap over and you get a Brill snap that makes Oak very Pleased. Altogether this game sounds very promising but I won't be able to get a hold of a copy in the Uk till god knows when. I am visiting America in September so I'll pick up a copy then (along with several thousand more games that have never been released here. You guys have got P'mon Pinball, P'mon red/blue, P'mon Snap. P'mon Trading cards, P'mon cartoons (new series) and what does good ol' UK get asides from a lot of unpleasant replies from Nintendo regarding Pokémon which I have sent. We have the series on a finite repeat on SKY televison. But apart from that and a few lucky finds in Import Shops, nothing. Mail order costs are astronomical and according to my calculations (that sounds a bit cheesey) you Americans pay less for N64 and GB games. Sheesh Nintendo are really giving the UK the ever-so-slightly soiled end of the stick by not releasing any pokémon stuff at all. They have said that it will be released on October 4th (Yeah right and Banjo-tooie, Mario 642 and Metroid 64 are out next week). Anyway enough of my demented ramblings onto Pokémon Stadium.
Pokémon Stadium 1/2
Release date Japan:Out Now America:Autumn UK:Unknown
Pokémon Stadium was released about a year or so ago to answer japanese N64 owners (Of which there are Few according to Teltext Page Digitiser) plead for Pokémon Games. The game itself was incomplete you could only select 40 pokémon which could be downloaded from the Pokémon blue/red/yellow/green game boy pak using a special add-on to the joypad. Now though the game designers thought it over and released a second Japanese one Pokémon Stadium 2. This version had 150 Pokémon and even more options than the first. Among the new options are 4-player tournaments, Sub Games, you vs CPU and the ability to battle the GYM leaders again. It almost seems too good. Tournaments against the CPU are organized into different categories for POkémon. Once againthe UK probably won't see this excellent game untill 2000. The last 64 game released here Episode 1 Racer. The last Game Boy game SMBDX!!!!!!. Thats been available for months in the States, why do Ninendo continually deprive the UK from such great gaming. I would rather be Having a 3D battle with MewTwo than trying not to choke on my own vomit at the cack release of Game Boy Colour Games. i look at teh shelves what do I see. Men In Black=cack, Bugs Life=cack, Centipide=old cack, SMBDX=good, various old titles such as tennis reduced to £9.99(thats about$20 I think)=hmmmm okay but most are CACK. Here in the UK a new N64 game is released every two months and because of Nintendos decision to make US N64 Games uncompatible with UK N64's. I would need to get some dodgy conversion device thatw ould probably nacker it. Luckily I amnaged to order Pokémon Blue through a reliable Mail Order company for £$36(about $72). Thats for the Game Boy so its universally compatible(Why Can't everything be then I could be playing such classic games as Chrono Trigger, Final Fantasy (all of them up to 6) and the Pokémon Series. Anyway Pokémon Stadium 1/2 is only compatible with Japanese Cartridges so be warned Importers.
