Ode to the Realmz
Part 1: Bywater
By Jason Shore
Once, in a place called the Realmz,
Six wandering adventurers set forth,
Set forth for a place called Bywater...
In Bywater, a small and peaceful town,
In Bywater, when their guard was down,
They were jumped by a pack of thieves,
Long was the battle that ensued,
But the thieves were the ones that ended up bruised,
And Bywater no longer looked peaceful.
This was proven by a terrible sight,
Two men robbing a woman in terrible fright,
When she pulled out an ornate dagger.
The dagger was called Frozen Viper,
So deadly was the Frozen Viper,
It froze all things its blade touched.
But the adventurers saw that the woman needed help,
And so they leapt at the thieves, who uttered a yelp,
And ran away the very next second.
The woman thanked the adventurers,
Yes, she thanked the adventurers,
And invited them to her shop.
At the magic shop of Madam Oswell,
The adventurers had things they wanted to sell,
And some they wanted to buy.
After getting some armor, weapons, and a potion,
They went to the pub and set things in motion,
That nobody could hope to stop.
They approached the table of an orc named Targ,
A scruffy-looking orc named Targ,
Who handed them a map.
The map was of the graveyard place
And there was an X labeled Scary Place,
So the adventurers got ready to go there.
Then Targ pitched forward, transfixed by a spear,
And then three large orcs said Dont you come near!
For we are the ones that killed Targ!
After they dashed out as if in a race,
The town guard soon arrived at this place,
And you told him what had just happened.
My name is Haikur, said the guard,
I have an assignment, and it is hard,
Could you help me complete my quest?
He took you to the barracks by the castle,
And inside there was brewing a hassle,
Between Haikurs men and Thurfur.
Thurfur was a captain, like Haikur,
O yes, he was a captain like Haikur,
But they seldom got along.
Thurfur said Let us get rid of the goblins!
Let us exterminate the tribe of goblins!
Whose raids have caused much destruction.
True to form, Haikur strongly disagreed,
He said that the troops had much more need
For destroying the village of orcs!
The adventurers remembered Targ the orc,
O yea, Targ the orc,
So they chose to punish the rest of his kind.
Haikur said Meet me at the east gate,
At the crack of dawn, Dont be late!
Or I shall leave without you.
Before going to beat the orcs soundly,
They met a blacksmith, who was crying loudly,
And he said Avenge my son!
For his son had been killed in a goblin raid,
And the blacksmith said You will be well paid,
For bringing me the body of my son!
You agreed to this, and he wished you well,
But below you, the forces in Hell,
Were preparing to enter Kobold Caverns.
Not knowing of this, the adventurers went,
O yea, the adventurers went,
To the east gate where Haikur was waiting.
Let us crush the rabble! Haikur yelled,
And off they went, and Haikur held,
The flag of Bywater, flapping proudly.
Approaching the orc village, the army stopped,
And then, Haikur decided to opt,
For an ambush, rather than an assault.
But, Bywaters finest, were the ones ambushed then,
The adventurers and Haikur were the very last men,
Alive, and still fighting the orcs.
The rest of that battle was immortalized in song,
Yea, it was immortalized in song,
Bards and minstrels would sing it for ages to come.
The orcs were defeated by a brilliant plan,
And Haikur, gravely wounded, got up and then ran,
Up to a gate, where he fainted, near death.
The priests soon arrived where Haikur fell,
One said He does not look well,
He might not see another day.
With heavy hearts, they faced the gate,
They faced the gate, not knowing that their fate,
Hinged on what happened next.
They opened the door, and a blast of stale air,
Came at them, and in the cave there,
Was a Skeletal Giant, at least twenty feet tall.
They simply stared at this awesome beast,
Knowing that they didnt have the least,
Chance to survive this battle.
Half of the party was struck down quickly,
The sight of the bodies laying there was sickly.
But the rest attacked with a raging vengeance.
Soon, all but one were left standing,
And that person, a sorcerer, began chanting,
An incantation called Meteor Shower.
Meteors pummeled the Skeletal Giant,
O, they rained down on the Skeletal Giant,
But when they stopped, he was still standing.
He faced at the sorcerer with an evil grin,
When all of a sudden, a crack in its shin,
Spread across his whole body.
He then stood rigid, as if bound,
Then toppled over, dead, to the ground,
And he shall torment the living no more.
The entire party was nursed back to health,
And they soon found themselves in a lot of wealth,
Gifts from the king himself.
The Kobold Caverns were teeming with evil,
And knowing that it must be put to an end,
They set out once again on an epic journey,
To destroy the demon named Rewop,
And bring peace to the Realmz once and for all....
