Neo Geo Cup '98 is the first soccer title for
the NGP and it is a pretty good effort. The game features 16
international teams to choose from. (Even the player names are based on
real players, albeit slightly altered.) Besides being a simple soccer
title, there are management aspects which gives it a personal
touch.
With the prize money you earn from matches,
you can buy special items to equip your players and boost their
performance. There are also interesting special events which occur
randomly between matches and are fun to watch.
Gameplay in NGC is simple to pick up, and can
be enjoyed by most people (including non-soccer fans like myself! ^_^ ).
Playing against your friend's customised team is sure to be
exciting!
Neo Geo Cup '98 is a good game to pick
up, but be warned; the gameplay is very repititive (especially against
the CPU), and the control needs a little
work.
I also have one major complaint about the
game: the in-game graphics used for every single match is the same! (It
makes you feel as though you are playing the same match against the same
opposing team over & over again!) This gets boring after a
while.
