Some new info for Gekka no Kenshi today, accompanied by all-new screenshots.
(Click here to go to the screenshots page)

There are 9 regular characters in the game, and they are confirmed to be:
- Kaede - Moriya - Yuki - Genbu - Akari
- Washizuka - Amano - Lee - Zantetsu
So far, the above characters are all from the first Last Blade. Characters from Last Blade 2 (like Kojiroh, Setsuna, etc) are missing from the regular cast of characters (but don't count them out yet! Read the paragraph below!) . There are reportedly 2 bosses in the game; Kagami and Kouryu, so they may be playable once they are unlocked. Juzo and Mukuro are starring in their own mini-games, so they probably won't be selectable.

Some extra info on the game's Gallery mode. You can use points earned from the arcade mode and mini-games to purchase scrolls to add to your Gallery. The types of scrolls include the following:
Profile (Total: 14) - Contains Character Info and Profiles.
Journey (Total: 9) - View Character Story Demo.
Ending 1 (Total 9) - View Ending Demo for defeating Kagami.
New Journey (Total: 13) - View Character Demo for 2nd chapter (after defeating Kagami).
Gekka no Kenshi (Total: 16) - Character Illustrations.
Battle to the Death (Total: 15) - Super Move Potraits.
Ending 2 (Total: 13) - View Ending Demo for defeating Kouryu.
Special (Total: 10) - Special Graphics
Technique Manual (Total: 12) - Used during gameplay (perhaps new Super Moves?)

By reading the above, a few assumptions can be made:
- There should be around 14 playable characters.
- The game consists of 2 chapters, probably divided into part 1 and 2 of the arcade Last Blade.
- The new characters will probably be unlocked in chapter 2, since there are more endings for the 2nd chapter.

Well, that's it for now. Gekka no Kenshi is shaping up to be a very interesting game. It should be released by the time you are reading this, so pick up your copy today!

The arcade sword-fighting game makes its debut on the NGP! Although the Gekka no Kenshi series was never as popular as SNK's other arcade titles, it was nevertheless a solid weapons-based fighter which won over fans with its Japanese samurai theme and attractive character designs.

This NGP port is based on the second instalment of the game and will feature the series' trademark Power/Speed fighting styles and Parrying system. The game will also retain the various cinemas and cut scenes used to relay the game's story.

The NGP version will feature extra modes like Training, Time Attack, and Survival. There are also 2 original mini-games included; "Juzo in Baseball Challenge" and "Mukuro in Escape from the Gates of Hell". You can earn points by playing these mini-games in exchange for 'scrolls' which contain game & character illustrations.

NGP fighting fans will be able to get a taste of Gekka no Kenshi in March. For those who never got to try it in the arcades, this is definitely a chance not to be missed!
