I managed to
get an import copy of Kikouseki Unitron. I've only played
it for a while, but anyway, I have decided to post some early
impressions on the game.
Kikouseki Unitron First
Impressions
The game has
undergone lots of changes since the first Biomotor
Unitron!
- As of now, there are 4
dungeons; the Forest, Tower, Underwater Cave, and even Rhafiace
(which is now in ruins)!
- The dungeons are pretty similar
to the first game, but are now a lot larger (definitely more than 8
areas)! Fortunately, there are 'checkpoints' every few areas, so you
can begin from there even after you exit the map.
- There is more interactivity in
dungeons, such as healing points and traps which do
damage.
- There are warpholes which
teleport you to a different part of the map, or even to one of the
other dungeons! (I find this quite confusing.)
- Before/after battles, your EP
is not replenished.
- Your character learns Special
Attacks (such as Flare, Heal, etc) as he levels
up.
- For Arms Developement,
combining an Arm with a Material does not necessarily result in an
entirely new Arm this time round. Some combinations will only result
in increased attributes (to a maximum of 10 upgrades per Arm), so
you'll have to find out which Material is needed to create a new
Arm.
- Under the equipment screen,
'Core' and 'Body' have gone missing. Your Unitron seems to run on
power generated by a cute furry little creature named
"Erell". You'll have to feed him with Material to increase
his stats, and this seems to be the only way to strength your
Unitron's body and increase your EP.
- There is a clock in the game
which shows the current time (based on the time you entered on your
NGPC). I don't know if the time of the day affects gameplay, but
Sorudy (the bartender) says something about being at one of the
dungeons "on a full moon". Hmmm...
- Oh! I nearly forgot; the Arena
is back, too. ^_^
So
far, the game is looking good. I was a fan of the first game and so
I am quite attracted to this. My greatest complaint is that they
recycled most of the music from the first game. The dungeons are
also driving me crazy; they are enormous & complicated and will
require more time to fully explore.
