RAF_Nello has written a new mission called Operation Pinball for use with MultiSwap, which is now on our downloads page. This is an incredible mission with many options and variables, you can fly it as a bomber run or just as a search and destroy mission. Go download it !!
I read with interest how the Australian government is trying to sell the largest telecommunications company, Telstra. A lot of politicians as well as the public are jumping up and down crying foul. The same thing happened in New Zealand when the government owned Telecom was sold. The NZ government tied the new owners into a contract which essentially kept a cap on any rises in charges. So an American company now owns Telecom NZ, who charge approx $40 per month for unlimited local calls as well as $40 a month unlimited internet accounts, they also use New Zealand as a testing ground for new technology. Australian Telstra charges approx $15 a month and then 20 cents per local call. Internet access is $44 for 150 hours and cable and adsl technology is only just being introduced at highly inflated prices. I hope they sell it as soon as possible, then maybe Australians will get a decent go.

Some weeks ago there was an RAF imposter on the zone causing a bit of trouble. A sysop was called in and my wife (Huntress) made the comment to the sysop, +iluvbn_mom, in the main chat that the person was an RAF imposter, the sysop promptly gagged my wife for a personal attack. The imposter laughed and laughed and was not even spoken to even though he had called my wife Cuntress, which was in the chat buffer and was able to be read by the sysop.
Tonight my wife logged on and was greeted by the usual hellooooooooooooooooo's to which, as everyone does, she replied. She was then gagged by sysop, +doerden, for being disruptive and flooding. Well it seems to me that these sysops must be new and therefore very zealous in their jobs. Other sysops actually come into Ridge Runners and say helloooooooooooooo to various people. They like it because everyone is nice and friendly and there are no hassles. I think it is about time that the Z Team got their collective acts together and defined what is inappropriate instead of each sysop acting on how they feel at the time. SW_Anzac, who, in the real world is a newpaper editor in the Rupert Murdoch Group in Australia and has been itching to do an editorial on the way the Microsoft Zone is run. Seems the sysops are playing right into his hands.
Sysops need to remember they are there in a voluntary role to help, not to intimidate. Maybe a wake up call is what some of them need. If not, SW_Anzac is going to have a great story.

We welcome SW_Redback, formerly TaipanBP to Southern Warbirds.

After a few harsh words between WA Squadron and Shadow Squadron, a date and time was agreed upon for a best of 3 challenge. WA won the first game 15-14 and the second game 15-10. So obviously a 3rd game didn't need to be played. Shadows motto is "killing two at a time"  I guess WA had better change their motto to "killing three at a time"   lol

WA Squadron have moved house and are now at  http://www.wasquad.bizland.com/
Heltr has done a very nice job on their new site.

A guestbook has been added to the main page, funny thing, people were quite happy to sign the old book, even though it took half an hour to load, but don't want to post on the message board.

There's always a catch, the unlimited downloads in the Optus deal is correct, but you only get 300mb upload, then have to pay by the meg. As I said, there's always a catch.
Looks like I'm sticking with dial up anyway because they have no plans to offer cable in my part of this 1.3 million people city. You gotta wonder.

Please read the message board re: security.
Good news for Australian internet users, Optus in partnership with Excite@home are in the process of offering cable internet connections for $59.95 a month, unlimited downloads. The catch is the $400.00 setup cost but is still better than Telstra's $49.95 a month for a lousy 100 meg.
Check it out at Optus@home

A lot of people are still asking me for help with MultiSwap, if you are unsure how to use it , go to the MultiSwap page and read the instructions.

Southern Warbirds squadron sadly accepts the resignation of SW_Capatani. Unfortunately work and family commitment means Capatani can no longer spent the time on the zone. SW thanks Capatani for all the time and effort he has put into the squad.
I was on the zone last night, when a real dork named EatLead_2 came on, he abused SW_Duke first, and ended up challenging me to a game, he used an F-16 jet , so I used a P-51. I shot him down twice without any damage from him, he then said he had computer problems and exited the game. Out in the main chat he called me gay, called Huntress (my wife) a lesbian, said he'd firebomb my house and kill my kids. Most people in the ridge sprang to Huntresses defence immediately. RCAF_Duckhunter was very verbal in coming to her defence, and I thank him for it and would do the same for him in an instant. The end result was Eatlead apologising, which I did not accept.
I guess there will always be idiots around, but I for one, will not sit back and let them say what they want without reply. Duckhunter, thanks mate, I owe you one.
