The vampires of Clan Gangrel are nothing, if not suvivors. Rumor has it that the original Gangrel, Ennoia, was cursed by Caine to have a perpetual wander lust, and forever live like and mimic the lesser beasts of the Earth. To this day, most Gangrel cannot stay in one place too long. Being around other, in cities, is unnerving and uncomfortable. There place is in the wilderness, where they can submerge themselves in the natural. Although of late several City Gangrel have began to manifest. The Gangrel are also very closely tied to the Rom, Gypsies, and are quick to open a can of woop-ass on any Kindred who even thinks of messing with or embracing them.
Because of the kinship they have with the lesser beasts of the Earth, the Gangrel have developed a more intimate understanding of the Beast within. Because of this, they are of the few Kindred who can, at least on occasion, commune with Werewolves. It is becaus eof this as well, that they can live in the wilderness and not fear being attacked. Many Gangrel believe they do not emote the scent of Wyrm (an evil, unnatural, corruptive force which the Werewolves battle and believe Kindred are manifestation of) as strongly as other Kindred, thus allowing them to be tolerated a little more, or not blood hounded quite as easy. Not to mention that the Gangrel Discipline of Protean allows them to shape shift into animals.
With the cities ever expanding, the Gangrel have found themselves on
the front line of the perpetual war between Kindred and Werewolves. Recently,
the entire clan has opted to leave the Camarilla
entirely. This has certainly caused a major upheaval in the vampire ranks
as some Kindred from other clans now view tthem as traitors and are are
even more alienated than before. Gangrel who wished to with the Camarilla
have found themselves shunned by their clanmates. However one thing continues
to stay exactly the same, the hatred and utter contempt for the Ravnos.
| Disciplines: Animalism,
Fortitude,
Protean
Apptitude: +1 in the outdoors. When in natural surroundings (a park counts; a city street doesn't), a Gangrel may add one die to any one action taken per turn. This is reverse for City Gangrel.* Advantage: Hunter's Instinct. By spending a Blood Point, the Gangrel may automatically gain the initiative next turn, even against foes with Celerity. Alternatively, the Gangrel may apply his instinct to hunting; automatically succeeding in a hunt, unless there is absolutely no prey to be found in the vicinity. Weakness: Feral Appearance. Over time, many Gangrel develop animal features, such as catlike eyes, fur, or batlike snouts and ears (This is determined by the Paitron animal selected at character creation). The Gangrel must make a Psychic Roll (Difficulty 4) every time he Frenzies to avoid obtaining another feral feature.* This & That: The Gangrel and Ravnos have a long, deep rooted, hatred for each other. Several rumors abound as to why. One rumor states that the Ravnos tend to embrace heavily from the Rom, and the Gangrel a dogged protectors of the Gypsies. The Ravnos believe that Ennoia, the Gangrel Antideluvian, betrayed and caused the death of their own Antideluvian. Because Ravnos was the "favored son of Caine", the Dark Father cursed the Gangrel to forever wander the Earth and live as beasts. |
Nickname: Outlanders
Character Creation: Gangrel tend to have similar Natures and Demeanors because it takes a certain kind of person, in the Gangrel's eyes, to be a Wander. Physical Attributes, Talents, and Skills are prime. Allies (Gypsies) and Mentor are basicly the only Backgrounds they care for. Organization: There really isn't any organization, occasionally a few Gangrel get together around the campr fire and exchange stories and news, but not much more than that. Also since their recent departure from the Camarilla, the Gangrel no longer have a say in Kindred politics. Concerns: Now that there is no longer a voice for the Gangrel in the Camarilla, they have to be concerned with Kindred policies that may affect them. Also, the Werewolves are always a problem, a very painful one. Bloodlines: Gangrel Antitribu, City Gangrel Lightbulb Joke: How many Gangrel does it take to screw in a lightbulb? "What for? I can see just fine." *As he pulls
his sunglasses over his glowing red eyes.*
*Indicates a deviation from the rules printed by White Wolf. |
