A LIST of NEVERS for MUSTANG PILOTS by NUTS
1-NEVER engage the enemy when you upped at a base with less than 100% fuel rating. Use it to dive
bomb and escape. Note that mossies run better than ponies on bad fuel!!
2-NEVER loop with enemy unless you have over 300 knots speed, then only 1 loop and extend for another
approach or leave.
3-NEVER take your pony into battle low or slow<200 knots unless you have no choice. Be patient and
engage on YOUR TERMS!!
4-NEVER climb to engage a higher bogey. You must keep your pony fast >200 knots to hope to survive.
5-NEVER leave your wingman unless told to.
6-NEVER help your wingman by circle-fighting-always BNZ to keep your speed up-no use losing both.
You will surely die if both you get slow turning with the enemy. Dive in and loop if possible.
7-NEVER approach bogey headon-some have nose canons that will blow you away. If bogey tries for
headon always slip to the side a little away from his nose and 30 degree slant if possible.
8-NEVER follow your prey over his ack!!
9-NEVER engage another bogey with ammo less than 50% unless you have no choice.
10-NEVER do flat turns in a mustang. Use rudders to decrease drag on turns.
11-NEVER lose site of the enemy. Keep that hat button busy at all times!Even in transit.
12-NEVER engage bogey with your bombs on. Lose them as soon as you decide engagement is eminent!
13-NEVER engage a low bogey if a higher one is available.
14-NEVER get slow (less than 200 knots) when fighting an A26- he can out-turn you everytime.
15-NEVER engage a buff if he has an escort. Go for the escort first! Unless you're the only one with a shot
and he's about to drop on your base and you want to die.
16-NEVER approach ack at less than 350 knots-preferrably over 400.
17-NEVER begin bomb run without confirmed that your bombs are ARMED!!
18-NEVER get below 800ft. on bomb run.
19-NEVER follow wingman on dive approach less than 1000 yds. If he is on ack you stay at least 2500 back
He could miss or get killed and you may need to hit ack!
20-NEVER try to zoom climb with any bogey unless you're sure you have speed on him and you're less than
1200 yds. back.
21-NEVER carry more than the Black Horses standard fuel load,unless advised otherwise.
22-NEVER try to gun a flakpanser-you cannot kill it in a mustang with guns!!
23-NEVER take off in a heavy pony with bogeys within 10000yds. unless you're sure they are leaving or
otherwise engaged.
24-NEVER stay close to enemy base when you aren't sure the ack is dead and will not be up soon-don't fly
over enemy bases or factories and such when running for home-use dar to help locate them.
25-NEVER and never follow SKPG thru the hangers upside down!!!
