Its early days for KP mapping, so any new stuff will really get put in the spotlight.

review , as well for some good insights into mapping.
I just want to make some general points about mapping and about the map itself.
-First off, this map is very high quality. The complexity and detail are very good, and would have required much work.
-I'm not really a map reviewer as such, but budding mappers should note in the PlanetKingpin review that the first reviewer was not keen on the gameplay balance due to the HMG in the level. Is this opinion correct? Maybe, maybe not. But, I do feel that it has influenced his overall opinion of this map. Don't be put off by thinking if such a detailed map could get a relatively low score, then my map will be worse. Its opinion, nothing more.
-Note the 'extras' in the map: the garbage, planks of wood, broken concrete with exposed pipes. All these things really add to the feeling of a 'real world' environment that is the theme of KP. Stick with this. Levels in Halflife look like a neat freak has been thru them. Everything is in it's place and the corridors look as though they have just been tended to by cleaners...before the blood bath of course. OK in HL, not in KP.
- The planet Kingpin review has a screenshot showing some planks against a wall clipping. Have a look for yourself in the map. Lesson here: try and catch these things by testing your map. Methodically look for these problems.
- More on the 'gritty' environs of KP: I feel the fog and lighting could have been *slightly* more grim. the fog settings were too low and the lighting was a little to direct. However, some reviewers HATE a map that is too dark...
- In conclusion: KP is in desperate need of a 2 player map. Cole delivers this in a very nice map. Remember, you can please all of the people some of the time, and some......er, you know the saying. Just get map making. Post your map on a forum if you wish. Ask for people to have a look and to send in some opinions before submitting it.
-If you have an opinion on these matters, then post to the forum. Its all valuable.
