It's
a bird!.. Its a plane!... Oh, its just MC
MaskedCritic is
back, and better then ever!! Ok, well at least im back. I wouldn't say
better though. The site has been down for around 4 weeks now. That is a
long time, but this site takes around 3 hours of work a day. I just didn't
have that much of time with school, sports, and upcoming final exams. Now
school is out, and sports are over (well, most of them) and I now have
more time! Good news for some, bad news for other.
Now on to the "Take
the site down?" Poll. Everyone get ready.... Drum Roll please.... Take
the site down? RESULTS: 39 No, 4 YES, and
1 BURP (Spotmonkey, you are one odd fellow).
So what does that mean? It means site stays up! Thanks to all who voted.
To those 39 who voted to keep site, special thanks. To those 4 who voted
to take it down, Im coming after you with my ugly stick and I plan to beat
you over the head with it. To the PERSON (rhymes with Spotmonkey) who voted
burp, well, never mind.
I really thought
that the votes to take the site down would be a lot higher, but I was wrong.
However, Im not as wrong as the people who think HEAT is paying me off
to take the site down.
Anyways, now that
I'm back and working on improving this site, please send me a quick email
with any suggestions or ideas.
PRIZEMATCH
IN QUAKE2?!?!?!
Is HEAT crazy?!?!
Once I saw this on the monthly events, I knew we were in for trouble. Whenever
there is a lobby which usually has several hundred users already, there
is no need for a hundred more during a prizematch. With this many people,
there just isn't enough degrees to go around. Raids were hell trying to
get in. You know it's too crowded when someone runs a 64 player raid, and
there are still people who didn't get a spot to play. Sometimes I got lucky
and actually got in a few raids. Now, with a couple hundred more users
in the lobby, what happens? You guessed it... more games, which means ALOT
more lag. Just a normal 8 person raid sent my to a 700 average. Almost
everyone during the raids felt like they were trying to play Quake2 on
a 386. It was just too slow. Hopefully HEAT will learn from this mistake,
and go back to holding the Prize Matches in less popular games.
INFLATING
LIKE A BALLOON
I have been saying this
for a long time, and now it has happened. Inflation is coming. Could this
be because of parking? I think parking plays a major role in the inflation.
Parking is being used now more then ever. I am 100% sure I could goto the
Quake 2 lobby at ANY time of day and find AT LEAST 50 people parking. That
is just for ONE lobby. This is how bad parking is getting. Now that the
new degree conversion is here (RUMOR IS
2k=1$), people
will be parking EVEN MORE! Is there anything to be done? Like I said before,
take away hourly Degree plan. There is no other solution that is that effective.
For many of you, that is the ONLY source of your degree income. My response
to those people is that it isn't hard to earn degrees. All you have to
do is get involved. If I can earn degrees easily, anyone can. Removing
the hourly program will save HEAT a lot of money. HEAT.NET is a business,
they are out there to make money while providing us users with a great
service. HEAT is already starting to look like the yellow pages. Obviously
something has to be done whenever the degree value drops by half. Another
thing that can be done is to make the Parking Cops program less of a joke.
Everyone knows that they will most likely NOT run into a cop. ALL cops
are HEAT techs. Most techs are even too busy to answer questions in Help
Chat. What makes you think they will have enough time to patrol lobbies?
HEAT would benefit by having users be parking cops. However, this would
be very difficult. It would be extremely hard finding users honest enough
to do the job professionally. Most people would first turned in their enemies
for fines. Or let one of their friends slide even though he is a heavy
parker.
To show you how parking
is affecting the inflation, let us do a little math. I would guess there
are around 150 users on HEAT which are lobby parkers and leave HEAT software
open all day all night. For a 24 hour period, they will earn 6,000 degrees.
Now, 150 users getting 6,000 would bring a total of 900,000 Degrees a DAY
to parkers. Now, 900,000 a day for 30 days: 27 Million degrees a month.
Now, 10,000 per user for everyday log in: 1.5 Million degrees. So, HEAT
is giving around 28,500,000 Degrees a month to parkers. That's $28,500
a month also. No wonder the degree value is going down. Once again, thank
the parkers for ruining it for everyone. Also note that this estimate doesn't
even count the Rev parkers.
Well, that is just
my two cents worth. No one likes inflation, so obviously it has to be a
concern of HEAT. Something has to be done to prevent it too.
