Dragons' Star is a heavily modified mud based on Circle-MUD which was derived from Diku MUD. It is a massively playable MUD that is enjoyable for not only the beginner but also the advanced MUDder.

WHAT IS A MUD???
A MUD (or Multi User Dungeon) is a computer-controlled base for an interactive multiplayer role-playing game. It can involve hundreds of people all trying to better themselves through various techniques. Whether it be through questing (following basic instructions and solving puzzles to get a specific goal) or maiming and slaughtering or grouping together and doing any of the above and........ Well .. the list could go forever.
WHY DRAGONS' STAR???
Dragons' star is set in the future. Yet due to the fact many races are living in the same areas very closely and also because we have evolved, a number of different thing can be done that cannot usually be done in a normal MUD. The main ones here are the fact that telepaths (or beings with psionic powers) and mages (or magic users, wizards, warlocks etc..) are aan integral part of the game. In fact these skills are almost necessary to survive in the future.
Also the Imms(Immortals, Great Ones, Big Brothers..., the people who work on the game) are very helpful, and even if they aren't around, I'm sure one of the other players will help you acclomplish whatever goal you are trying to accomplish.
