Graphics 8 - The graphics in this game are very good. The only problem i have with the graphics is that the characters are very small compared to other fighting games. They are very colorful, and move very fluid and smooth. Your weapons look very nice, although they constantly flash. This isn't very bad, it just gives them kind of a glowing effect. I guess it is so you can tell when you have your weapon drawn and when you don't, but i'm not sure. Overall the graphics are very good, but the characters are very small when put up against some of the neo's newer fighting games.
Sound/Music 10 - The music in this game is awesome. It has traditional japanese flute playing similar to samurai shodown, mixed in with heart pumping drumming and acoustics. This game has awesome music and i think if it caught on more it should deserve a soundtrack. The sound is also awesome. Very loud yells when punching and kicking and connecting sounds even better. Loud thrashes compliment clangs when swords connect and grunts from the opponent when hit. The sound as a whole in this game kicks ass and is one of the games major highlights.
Control/Gameplay 9 - This game controls very tightly compared to other ADK games such as world heroes. My favorite part about it is how easy the combos are to pull off and how smoothly they control. Combos usually are my favorite parts of fighting games and this game has plenty. One problem i have is drawing and sheathing your weapon is sort of difficult to pull off on the joypad controller (which is what i use) you have to hit the B + C button at the same time. Granted this would be simple to pull off on a joystick (which i will soon be getting) it is fairly difficult on the joypad. It isn't bad enought at all to pull the games control rating down but a miniscule bit, but it is still there. Another cool thing i discovered is that with Kamui (my favorite character) you can stick to the walls and climb up and down them. I thought the first character to be able to do this was spidey :) but this game came long before those games and i thought this was pretty nifty.
Overall 9 - Overall this game is awesome. It is a very intriguing, mood setting fighting game. It is the best fighting game released by ADK, and i think it deserves a sequel. With breathtaking sound and awesome characters, this game should have been much more popular. Again this game is hard to find (at least for the CD version) and it is very good. If you enjoy sword fighting games like the last blade, this game is very similar, while not as intricate, it is very good.
