King of Fighters '98 ~ Team Fighting Game

Graphics 9 - The graphics in this game are very good. The characters are very large and very colurful. They move smootly when fighting, but nowhere near as nice as Last Blade 2. The moves are very flashy, and they look devastating when you get super moves connect. There really isn't much to say about the graphics except they are really good, because that is expected these days. SNK would never make a game with bad graphics.

Sound/Music 9 - The sound in this game is great. The punches and kicks, as always, sound great. There is a ton of speech that really adds to the game (not that i can understand it... lol) Many of the characters communicate with eash other before the match starts, and they sometimes have conversations. The music is awesome. It is very worthy of a soundtrack and if you ejoy video game soundtrack music you should pick this one up. You should make sure get the arranged soundtrack since it is the music for the CD version. The cartridge music just isn't that good (i heard the non arranged soundtrack) Overall the sound and music are very good in this game, as one that has followed KOF from the beginning would expect.

Control/Gameplay 8 - The game plays very good. Although at times it feels a little choppy, it still holds its own for the variety of moves. It uses the standard configuration of buttons (two punches, two kicks) but i just feel it lacks something in the "something different" department, such as the deflect button in Last Blade 2. there just really isn't anything new added into the gameplay to make it stand out. Overall this game controls very well but lacks something.

Overall 8.7 - This game is very good. It has the most choices of characters in any fighting game ever made. It has 38 characters! that is a lot to choose from. The characters have the most personality and the most interactivity than in any SNK fighting game. The game itself is very good, but it really dosen't display anything new and groundbreaking except for the immense number of characters, which people have come to expect from KOF games.
